Will it heal clean?
Will there be scars?
That plague me in old age
And ache when it rains?
Will it heal crooked?
Will it leave me crippled?
Will I develop a callus
Against further wounds?
Will it fester and rot?
And leave me ugly inside?
It hurts so much,
Yet there’s nothing to do
And nothing to take
Except your word
I can only wait, and ask,
“This broken heart…
Will it heal clean?”
